Hello! I'm a neurodiversity and gender affirming licensed clinical psychologist practicing in California, with specialized training in infant/early childhood mental health and Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy. I am a nerd who loves digesting the latest research in neuroscience and psychology so that I can help others learn more about and understand the mind-body connection. I practice from a social model of disability informed by a trauma-informed biopsychosocial and relationship-centered perspective, which means: * I don't necessarily seek to "cure" impairments or disability; * I recognize that behavior is often shaped by traumatic experiences; * I think about how biology and the environment shape each person's individual psychological and emotional experience; and * I believe connectedness in relationships are important in creating change. In providing therapy, I blend cognitive behavioral interventions (primarily based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) with psychodynamic, interpersonal, and Gestalt approaches to help people better articulate what brings meaning to their life and how they can take steps towards living that meaningful life. With that said, I am well aware of controversy over cognitive-behavioral methodologies being potentially gaslight-ey. Please know that while I am strongly invested in matters relating to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, I also believe in nuanced collaborative approaches that don't immediately discount a whole genre. There may be cases where cognitive-behavioral work _can _be the most appropriate strategy for someone, and if that is the case I work with these approaches, with the overarching premise of helping folx come into themselves more fully rather than primarily focusing on the end goals of compliance or conforming. My goals in treatment are to help folx: * better articulate and express who they are; * go about creating a meaningful life with intentionality; * understand and self-advocate for their identified needs; and * form meaningful connections to the people and environment that they are in. I offer therapy primarily in English, but do speak and understand Mandarin, as well as elementary Spanish and French. I am also pretty fluent in geek speak.
