Welcome! My name is Lourdes Janet Camacho, but you can just call me Janet! I have been a practicing therapist since 2015. My areas of expertise includes anxiety, depression and trauma affecting women, teenage girls, and non-binary women. I am a bilingual, first generation Latinx woman. I am a mother, a wife, dog mom, self-proclaimed designer of spaces, and plant lover. I did not grow up with conversations about mental health. My passion for mental health began with an introductory psychology class in college. Looking back now, my educational path was my own attempt at increasing my self-awareness and it gave me language for the parts of me and others that I did not understand. MY CLIENTS I provide specialized support and care to a population that I feel particularly called to serve. On top of all the systemic challenges women face, women are at higher risk for adverse childhood events (ACES) which are potential traumatizing events. My work involves empowering women to reclaim their sense of agency and control over their lives through processing their traumatic experiences, manage distressing symptoms, and develop alternative coping mechanisms. If you are looking to heal from situations that occurred in the past that impacts your current functioning, you are in the right place. My niche was influenced by women I love who have experienced attachment injuries, grief, domestic violence, sexual abuse, relational issues, and other significant trauma. I practice in their honor, and I am committed to creating a safe place for teen girls and women to heal. I invite you to a complimentary 20-minute consultation so we can discuss presenting concerns, answer questions, and discuss next steps should you feel comfortable proceeding with me. MODALITIES I use EMDR, a memory-based therapy, which focuses on memory storage and Polyvagal Theory which focuses on autonomic processes. Both conceptualize that the past impacts the present. In my work, EMDR is often times complimented by Narrative and Ego State work and I use these modalities tailored to your individual presenting concerns. I provide my services in person and and virtually. I also want to note that EMDR is not diagnosis specific and it's effective across age, gender, and culture. MY HOME OFFICE I practice out of my home office located near the Bison Ridge Recreation Center located in Commerce City, CO. The home office is a quiet, private and thoughtfully put together space that provides an inviting, safe, and confidential environment.
