Lisa Henderson Sowers

Hello and congratulations on taking the first step in engaging in therapy and making a positive change in your life. I thank you for considering me as a prospective therapist and would like to provide you with information about my background and experience that will assist you in making this decision. My areas of expertise include working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, stress management, interpersonal relationships, substance abuse and trauma. My clients come from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and age groups (10+). I enjoy assisting clients to find happiness in the present moment while exploring possibilities for the future regardless of their current circumstance. During my work as a therapeutic riding instructor, I learned the healing power of horses. I pursued certification as a PATH Equine Specialist so that I could engage clients in sessions with horses that provide them with nonjudgement feedback in the moment and skills to overcome their challenges. My practice is very integrative due to my use of several therapeutic approaches that include cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, trauma work, mindfulness and solution-focused therapy. I have experience in utilizing this integrative approach in individual, couples and family therapy. I respect that clients come to therapy to improve how they feel, so I focus on creating a trusting, meaningful, and nonjudgmental relationship that promotes personal growth. My goal as a therapist is to assist you to optimize your confidence, connections with others, and life balance.
