Introduction

Lisa Besch is a therapist and owner of Renew Therapy and Wellness, PLLC. Her passion is to walk alongside others, helping them find healing and pursue growth. Her experiences in education, advocacy, and counseling helped shape her into an intentional professional therapist. Trauma survivors are Lisa's specialty. She has worked with those who have experienced many traumas in their life. Lisa understands what it is like to get triggered by something and react in a way you don't like. That is called a trauma response. Together you will process your trauma and find healing so that life won't be as stressful for you. Lisa specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a type of therapy that reprocesses traumatic events or memories. Research shows that trauma is stored in the body. When someone is triggered, they experience a trauma response like shutting down, getting angry, or avoiding the situation. Using an 8-step process, EMDR helps reprocess those memories. Through EMDR, many people find healing and resolve painful emotions and experiences. EMDR has been highly researched and is a proven effective therapy for Feelings of Worry, Anxiety, Depression, Low Self Esteem, Shame, Guilt, Inadequacy, Not Measuring Up, Grief and Loss, Self-Limiting Behaviors, Hopelessness and Helplessness, Panic, Addictions, PTSD and more. In her private practice, Lisa works with individuals (16+). Lisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Lisa has a master's degree in marriage and family counseling from Lamar University. Lisa is a Georgia native and a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Human Development and Child Studies. She moved to Texas in 2002 and pursued a twelve-year career in elementary education. Lisa is a former counselor and crisis and trauma advocate at The Turning Point, a non-profit sexual violence center in Plano, TX. While there, she provided trauma-informed counseling to survivors of sexual violence.
