Are you hoping to make your relationship deeper and more satisfying? I practice Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy: helping couples understand their differences and build genuine empathy for each other. We would work together to move from "my side of the story" and "your side of the story" to "our story." Once you each are able to express compassion for your partner's experience and feel greater acceptance of one another, you both are likely to find you actually want to make additional changes. I believe that after going through couple therapy, your relationship can be even more wonderful than when you first met. Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy was developed by Dr. Andrew Christensen, who was my clinical supervisor and research advisor during my Ph.D. work at UCLA, as well as Dr. Neil Jacobson. IBCT is a treatment shown by research to work for most couples with serious relationship difficulties, even those who have had these challenges for many years. I also see individual clients who are survivors of trauma. Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy can break the cycle of PTSD or C-PTSD by helping you develop a new way of thinking about and remembering what happened. I was trained in both of these treatments at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance and at the Sepulveda VA in North Hills.
