Introduction

I grew up with a natural curiosity to understand all the different ways people experience life. Being a therapist is a second career for me. Prior to therapy, I was a business owner in the tech space managing event production and project management for fortune 500 companies, as well as creating a technology startup with applications that worked on Windows Phones, (when it existed!), iPhone, and Android. Prior to business ownership, I worked at Microsoft Corporation and Apple Computer. During my time working in these high-pressure, stressful, and fast-paced environments, I saw the positive power that good therapy can have on a person’s mental, physical, and relational health. In mid-life, I decided to pursue my desire to become a psychotherapist. With a Bachelors’ in communication from Western Washington University, I went back to school to pursue my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University. I have found my joy in becoming a psychotherapist and helping others navigate life’s toughest seasons with care, without judgment, and working collaboratively towards your therapeutic goals. I work with individuals (adults and teens), and couples struggling with a variety of life and relational challenges. I meet my clients with a collaborative and empathetic approach. I focus on validation and understanding clients' perspectives and lived experiences, seeing you as you are and who you want to be. Having had many humbling lived experiences gives me a foundation of compassion and awareness that I bring in addressing your current challenges. When working with me, you'll notice a somatic-focused thread in our work together, via tuning into what is happening in your mind and how your body is responding. By observing this, you can gain insight, understanding and compassion as you grow through your current struggles. You will often find me in therapy asking you “where” you feel something vs. “what” you feel as well as helping you grow in understanding the holistic impact of your experiences to truly gain an understanding of the “why” behind your behaviors, responses, feelings, and emotions and create lasting change. I tell clients that change begins somewhere small, as we learn to be self-aware enough to see the early steps that lead to a greater, fuller life, or the full change you desire. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and I live in North Seattle with my identical twin teenage daughters, my partner, and our cat Mimi. I am an avid DIYer and artist as well and enjoy being outdoors, walking, hiking, and biking.
