Introduction

Your health problems are a part of you. They need not define you. As a health psychologist, I have had the privilege of supporting many adults and families coping with the effects of illness and injury. I am dedicated to helping you foster a sense of confidence over your health, your emotional well-being, and your day to day life. I will support you in building a full, vibrant, meaningful life, regardless of health status-- to learn that you can bend without breaking. My practice is grounded in cognitive behavioral theory, focusing on the intersect of thoughts, emotions, and actions on emotional and physical well-being. We will pay attention to the relationship between your body's stress response and physical symptoms of illness, an orientation sometimes called “mind-body medicine”. Whether you'd like to make changes to improve a chronic condition like diabetes, IBS, or heart disease, are struggling to adapt to a 'new normal' after a life-changing health event, or feel like symptoms are making the rest of your life take a back seat, you deserve support. Health Psychology is the practice of learning to maintain emotional resilience, reduce the impact of symptoms, and feel more in charge of your health, regardless of your diagnosis. Please review my practice in detail at www.sbhealthpsychology.com. If you'd like to discuss whether we might work together, you can reach out through the website to schedule a free telephone consultation.
