I use art therapy directives along with dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how to manage difficult emotions. There are many external factors that are making it more difficult for us to regulate our emotions, calm our anxiety, and allow ourselves to rest. Art therapy can help provide clarity and focus through safe expression of big or difficult emotions and stressful experiences, provide an outlet for stress and anger, and help us learn our patterns and how to make effective changes. I graduated with my Masters in Art Therapy from School of Visual Arts in 2012. For 8 years following, I worked in residential treatment settings for children and adolescents struggling with mental health, trauma, difficult family situations, and unsafe coping mechanisms. I opened my private practice in 2020 and work primarily with adolescents and young adults.
