Life can change in an instant. A new medical diagnosis, such as cancer or a chronic illness, can bring psychological trauma and distress, for both the patient and the caregiver. Common issues for the newly diagnosed patient include feelings of distress, anxiety, fear and grief. Caregivers can experience these feelings as well but are often overlooked in the shadow of the patient’s medical treatment. Whether you are the patient or the caregiver, you should not have to go through this process alone. Your experience, feelings, and coping are important and the story that you have to share is sacred. Leah believes in the healing value of being heard and understood. Leah is here to support you through each step of the process from first medical diagnosis and beyond, for patients or their caregivers, with compassion and expertise. She strives to build a trusting relationship with clients through humor, sensitivity, honesty and validation, as she believes a strong relationship is the key to effective therapy. Leah also has a great deal of experience working with adolescents in a school setting struggling with anxiety and depression, general coping and emotional difficulties.
