Lavender Roland-Waring, LCAT

Creative Arts Therapy Weaving Embodiment Therapy
Specialties: Depression, Abandonment, Grief, Open Relationships/Polyamory, Cultural and Systemic Oppression,

Introduction

I’m a Black trans art therapist from Queens, New York and based in Brooklyn. I work from an anti-oppressive therapy framework, meaning that I work collaboratively with clients, emphasize autonomy, and explore the connections between personal traumas & structural systems. When working with clients, I draw from trauma-informed care, disability justice, harm reduction, speculative fiction (mostly Afro-futurism & Octavia Butler), and personal experience.
