Introduction

My name is Lauren, I am a Clinical Social Worker, licensed in the state of Oregon for nearly 15 years but have been a social worker for over 25. In my private counseling practice, I have experience working with a multitude of different challenges people face including sadness, depression, loneliness, anxiety, relationships challenges and grief counseling. I have a long history of working with hospice and I have developed and run several groups regarding grief and loss. I’ve worked with the hardships of the homeless as well as the ongoing trials of the aged. My counseling style is warm, empathetic and compassionate. I do not label anyone and respect the fact that you know yourself better than I do. I will always listen to you without judgement. The types of approaches and counseling styles I use include Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Socratic Questioning. All of these styles assist you in understanding yourself and moving forward in a calm, non-judgmental manner. In using Mindfulness, we will often focus on what is happening to you physically and in the moment as opposed to being trapped by thoughts and fears which, ultimately, bring about anxiety. So many of us either agonize over yesterday and events which have already taken place, or fret about tomorrow, becoming apprehensive of future events which have not yet occurred. Our dialog and plan will be personalized to your unique and individual needs. Congratulations on taking the steps to make your life more fulfilling and happier. I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
