Introduction

I completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Georgia, receiving my Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology. I then attended Georgia State University for my Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. My degree in Rehabilitation Counseling has qualified me to practice traditional mental health counseling but with additional emphasis on the impact of various disabilities on individuals and their families. I have professional experience working in an Acute Care Behavioral Health Hospital, managing case loads of patients with addiction and various mood disorders. After transitioning away from the hospital, I have worked in private practice with clients of all backgrounds. My areas of specialty are anxiety, depression, addiction, life transitions, and LGBT issues, more specifically transgender issues. I have completed in depth training for working with transgender individuals through the World Professional Association of the Transgender Health, the governing body that sets the standards of care for transgender needs. I have my areas of specialty, but I have learned in my practice that no one can be boiled down to one diagnosis to sum up their life. If my areas of specialty don't line up with your needs, feel free to contact me and we can discuss further what you need in a therapist. Additionally, I have also completed a 220 hour Yoga Teacher training as a part of my own wellness journey. Finding yoga has helped change my life for the better. Part of what we will work on in session is finding you the things that you need to help you feel and live better. In working with my clients, I strive to help them find a healthy balance in every part of their lives; whether it is work, relationships or health. Finding a balance is important. Balance does not allow one area in our lives to become too extreme, pulling all of our focus. In session we will develop personalized strategies that can help you feel more in control, making your concerns feel more manageable. Once we work together to find that balance in your daily life, you are able to live at your happy, healthy baseline. You begin to thrive.
