Welcome to Open Path Counseling! I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) in the state of Kansas. I received my BA in Art from Newman University in 2005 and completed my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Friends University in 2019. I approach therapy with compassion, awareness, and work to create a space for you to process through your identified needs and goals whether this is your first time to therapy or returning. In this field it is a privilege to walk alongside those living with ADHD, depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, boundary insecurities, relational difficulties, and other concerns. I work with adults, couples, families, young adults 18+. I am an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider with extensive training in the field and bring this knowledge into the therapeutic setting when working with clients. Individuals with ADHD face a variety of challenges that can impact various aspects of their lives such as attention and focus, impulsivity and self control, organization and time management, hyperactivity, emotional and social challenges, work and school struggles, and sleep issues. Individuals with ADHD may have co-existing conditions such as anxiety and depression, learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc), oppositional defiant disorder or conduct disorder, or sensory processing difficulties. Often, people start to only see their loved one through the lens of ADHD and lose sight of who they are In adult relationships, whether romantic, friendships, workplace, or family dynamics, the symptoms of ADHD can create misunderstandings, frustrations, and emotional disconnects. ADHD can often lead to a parent-child dynamic where the non ADHD partner/friend/family member feels they have to take on more responsibilities. Often, people start to only see their loved one through the lens of ADHD and lose sight of who their loved one is as a person. Therapy can be beneficial for managing ADHD and improving relationships by helping individuals/couples/parents with coping strategies, emotion regulation, cognitive distortions, address challenges in daily life, and more. If you are new to therapy or returning to the therapeutic process, I would be honored to be a part of your personal growth.
