I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and School Counselor with a passion for helping tweens and adolescents work through developmental stressors, specializing in coping with anxiety and stress. My practice is warm, open, empathetic, and playful. I use a combination of insight, humor, evidence based practices, and strength based counseling to promote better understanding and tolerance of issues that are causing distress at home or in school. I also work with parents to arm them with tools to better understand and connect to their teens and strengthen the parent-child relationship. My positive and supportive approach focuses on coping skills, mindfulness, problem solving, growth mindset, understanding and relating to our emotions, integrating calming strategies, and building resilience. To quote the inspiring educator of 40 years, Rita Pierson, “every child deserves a champion — an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” I too believe in connection being the foundation for any positive relationship. I have experience working with children and prior to becoming a counselor I worked at Nickelodeon. I understand the importance of engaging with teens and young adults on their level and at their pace in order to develop a therapeutic relationship and create a safe space for open dialogue.
