He has provided therapy and assessment services in other settings such as a student counseling center, a community mental health clinic, a probation and parole office, a substance abuse treatment facility, a residential treatment facility, and a medical center. Prior to pursuing his degree in psychology, Lance completed his masters degree in theological studies from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and was subsequently trained as a chaplain resident at the North Texas Veterans Healthcare System in Dallas, Texas. His training and experience as a chaplain stimulated his passion for addressing issues with grief and forgiveness, as well as supporting people who hope to integrate spirituality into therapy. His passion for a mindfulness-based approach to therapy stems from his own recovery and mindfulness practice. He engages regularly in mindful meditation, silence, yoga, and spirituality retreats. Outside of the office, Lance enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as they engage in a variety of activities such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, and camping. Watching his children play sports and engaging in meaningful activities with them are the highlights of his weekends.
