I got started in the helping profession in homeless shelters and underpasses in Chicago. I worked on the South and West sides of the city. Doing one on one counseling is vastly different than that experience; but I approach therapy with that perspective in mind. I don't know what's going on in someone's life unless they tell me, and it might take weeks or months to feel comfortable enough to tell me anything. I work with people from all different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, and I am driven by helping each and every one of them learn coping skills. My company, Sixty-Forty Counseling PLLC is named that because 40% of life is going to be hardship and suffering. No one has a life that's glitter and butterflies. But 60% of life is great (even as a cynic I believe this). It's why we don't mind the 40% that much. I work with adolescents (16+) and adults. I want to create a space where you feel comfortable opening up, learning coping skills, and talking things out.
