Introduction

Hello! My name is Kolby Hardy, and I am counseling intern currently enrolled in Northwest Nazarene University’s master’s program. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Brigham Young University—Idaho where I developed a deep appreciation for the social sciences and their potential to positively transform the lives of individuals, families, and society. After working for nearly five years in residential mental health treatment, I was certain I wanted to dedicate myself to a career in this exciting and rewarding field. I’m grateful to say I was born and raised here in the wonderful state of Idaho which has instilled in me a great love for the outdoors, specifically skiing, fishing, and playing disc golf with my brothers. I love to learn and almost always have a podcast or audiobook playing as I commute around the Treasure Valley for work and school. Most importantly, I enjoy any activity that involves spending time with my incredible wife of three years and our newborn son. My approach most closely aligns with the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Specifically, I seek to facilitate a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can develop a greater sense of awareness and understanding of their inner experiences. Using a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I seek to tailor and integrate evidence-based techniques to improve clients’ psychological flexibility, increase their self-compassion, and help them define their values. I strongly believe that whatever your struggles might entail, (i.e. depression, social anxiety, relationship difficulties) you can still meaningfully engage in a life rich with purpose, connection, and fulfillment.
