Introduction

Living in Alaska it is not uncommon to see signs on hiking trails that say "rewilding in progress". People take short cuts and create social trails on trail systems that can cause damage. Childhood trauma often causes people to develop negative core beliefs about themselves and the world around them. The brain looks for evidence for the beliefs and attaches memories to them. This creates neural networks in the brain that the brain then goes to over and over again reinforcing the negative core beliefs. Rewilding, to me is the process of undoing those negative core beliefs learned in childhood and rediscovering the truth of who you are. I have been fortunate to work for a variety of non-profits in Alaska where I was inspired by the resilience, humor and the inner beauty of those I worked with. I work with clients to identify their goals, values and what is most important to them to work on in therapy. Once we have a plan we will discuss different therapeutic modalities that target different areas of the brain. This may look like learning new coping skills, doing mindfulness practices or working with the inner child. We will work together to figure out what is helpful to you. I am passionate about providing LGBTQ2S+ affirming, celebratory and supportive care. I also strive to decolonize my practice and to engage in ways that are antiracist. I live and practice on the occupied lands of the Dena'ina, Ahtna and the Dghelay Teht'ana. I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and pay my respects to the elders, past, present and emerging.
