Hey, I'm Kim! I am a Licensed clinical social worker, therapist, late-in-life diagnosed ADHDer, military spouse, mom, dog lover, and serial hobbiest. I have over six years of experience providing individual and group psychotherapy in a variety of settings, including intensive outpatient, hospitals, and private practice. I currently offer individual therapy to adults via video messaging (telehealth). I am a neurodiversity-affirming, attachment, and trauma informed therapist. I am trained in EMDR. What does all that therapy jargon mean? It means I am best equipped to help folks work on their stuff by examining how their thoughts and behaviors are impacting their mood and preventing change. I do this while considering attachment-style, early-attachment relationships, current relationships, and the relationship between therapist and client. And I work in some fun tools like mindfulness meditation for folks who into that kind of thing or EMDR for folks who want to work on past traumas or adverse experiences. "Neurodiversity affirming" can means lots of things, but here it means that I understand quite a bit about how difficult it is to engage in traditional CBT or attachment-focused therapy when you are very high masking, rejection sensitive, or people-pleasing. It also means I understand that therapy can seem inaccessible due to struggles with Alexithymia, executive dysfunction, or managing medical comorbidities. It means I won't be put off if you want to discuss your current problem using the language of Middle Earth or D&D or your latest hobby :) Most importantly, it means I won't be another person in your life who tries to cure your Autism or fix your ADHD. I will be someone who will help you explore it, process your feelings about it, and make any wanted or necessary accommodations to your life to help you live more comfortably and authentically. I am very happy to discuss all of this and more in a free 15-minute consultation. I believe that fit is the most important part of your therapy process. During our consultation, we will chat for a bit and see if we are a good fit before we schedule your first therapy session.
