Introduction

Kevin is the owner and therapist of Ready to Heal, LLC. “We are healed of a suffering only by experiencing it to the full.” - Marcel Proust Welcome, my name is Kevin. I am a licensed professional counselor candidate (LPCC) and owner of Ready to Heal, LLC. I work with adolescents, individual adults, and couples. I feel honored, privileged, and grateful for the opportunity to serve you. I am a trauma therapist at my core and believe that trauma underlies most of our problems today. You may have heard of the differences between “big T” and “little t” trauma. The reality is trauma is trauma; it is a matter of how it impacts our lives. Trauma is characterized by physical, mental, and/or emotional wounds. It can be a single event or recurring experience. It can occur in childhood/adolescence, such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse or neglect, or adulthood, such as domestic or intimate partner violence, infidelity, sexual assault, or grief from loss. You may know your trauma right away or it may be buried deep inside you. You might even know it, but not recognize it as trauma. It is easier to identify when it is physical. Sometimes, it is difficult to “see” or know it when it is invisible. Whether seen or unseen, it is incredibly difficult to deal with and we can get caught up in comparing our trauma to that of others, which leads us to minimize, dismiss, suppress, and/or ignore these wounds. It can manifest as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, identity challenges, and relationships issues, among many others. In our work together, we will treat your symptoms for some immediate relief and improved functioning, but, when you are ready and it is appropriate, we will dive into deeper work to eliminate symptoms by targeting the root causes of your suffering. I take a person-centered approach where the therapeutic alliance (i.e., our relationship) is fundamental. A great fit feeds healing; a poor fit feeds suffering. I will cultivate a place where you feel unconditionally accepted without judgment, genuinely heard and seen, understood in your struggles, safe and trusting in the relationship, and supported in addressing your needs. You are the expert on you, so we will work collaboratively on your path to healing and remove the obstacles to you being your authentic self and shining your light. There are many tools to support you on your healing journey. We will work together to find the tools that work best for you. I will incorporate the mind and body in your treatment because healing requires a holistic, comprehensive approach. I have training in several trauma modalities, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), and somatic techniques, including felt sense, breathwork, mindfulness, and yoga, among others. I also utilize interventions from an array of other methods, including, but not limited to, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, emotionally focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt therapy, and the Gottman Method. Through self-awareness, insight, strengths, and skill development, you will be able to manage life differently, secure stability, heal deep mental and emotional wounds, gain closure and resolve the past, restore balance, live in alignment with your values, find your purpose, connect deeply with yourself and others, and integrate in the present. We all have the innate capacity to change and live out our potential. Wholeness is available. It is already inside you! Our work together is like striking a match in the darkness to see the path to clarity, understanding, love, healing, peace, and contentment. Healing is not linear and looks different for everyone, so we will go at your pace and make adjustments as needed. This work is difficult, but it is worth it. This is your life! Live it brightly, fully, wholly. You deserve it. We deserve it. Are you ready to embark on your healing journey and set off to the other shore? Let’s connect and see if this is a great fit for you. And then just follow your heart. Location: https://www.highersightscounseling.com/locations
