Introduction

I am an integrative Therapist focused on healing parent-child relationships to bring back enjoyment within the family unit. I’m certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an effective treatment providing therapeutic play and discipline strategies to caregivers and children aged 2 to 7 years. Parents feel empowered every session as they become the master of their skills utilizing a "bug in the ear" method with live and direct coaching from the Therapist while actively engaging with their child all within their own home. PCIT is used to treat behaviors such as: -Tantrums or emotional outburts (at home, school, and/or public outings) -Disruptive behaviors (whining, talking back, yelling, hitting) -Difficulty regulating emotions -Easily frustrated or angered -Not listening or completing tasks -Sibling conflict -School concerns -Negative self-talk -Feeding/eating problems PCIT is done across two treatment phases. The first phase of treatment focuses on establishing warmth in your relationship with your child through learning and applying skills proven to help children feel calm, secure in their relationships with their parents, and good about themselves. The second phase of treatment will equip you to manage the most challenging of your child's behaviors while remaining confident, calm, and consistent in your approach to discipline. In this phase, you will learn proven strategies to help your child accept your limits, comply with your directions, respect house rules, and demonstrate appropriate behavior in public. With consistent attendance and homework completion, PCIT can be completed within 12-20 sessions, though treatment is not time-limited. Treatment is considered complete when parents have mastered both sets of skills and rate their child's behavior within normal limits on a behavior rating scale.
