Everyone deserves loving connection and when we have that need met, we feel more harmonious in general. I agree to provide a safe space that allows you to reach your therapy goals with me, finding more harmony and positive connection in your life and in your family’s home. I work at the Prospect office at Creative Family Counseling and see children (4+), teens, adults, couples, and families. I enjoy working with children and families who are navigating stress, dealing with concerns around adjustment during life transitions and developmental milestones, and changes in family dynamics and structure, and are experiencing challenges with emotional expression, self-regulation, anxiety, and social skills. I take a strengths-based and solution-oriented approach when working with clients, helping to build on strengths that are already present within someone or their family. I also enjoy utilizing play and creative expression in therapy, particularly with children. Using more experiential techniques can be extremely helpful to process issues that may be difficult to express with words. I hope to provide a safe space where people can feel vulnerable and open, helping to foster healing and growth. It is important that the therapeutic space is collaborative, and people feel empowered and feel that they can achieve and meet their own goals. I have experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds and am LGBTQIA+ allied. I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Associate under the supervision of Rebecca Street, LMFT. I am currently seeking certification in play therapy to build on the success I have seen with play and creativity in therapy. As a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, I enjoy helping parents and families feel confident in managing challenges that arise at home. I believe in the power of education, and being able to help people feel equipped with tools is something that I am very passionate about. I have also completed Levels 1 and 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, as well as the Gottman Emotion Coaching curriculum for parents. All of these are skills that influence my work with clients because they provide skills to help people achieve their goals in therapy. I have additional training and enjoy working with families who are navigating new life transitions, particularly uncoupling, divorce, or co-parenting. These can be painful and difficult to navigate, and I hope to provide a space to help explore these transitions in a way that can provide comfort and a path forward that is best for co-parents and children within the family. Families during this transition have an opportunity to find a path forward that leads to healing, love, and support within a family. While I am originally from South Carolina, I attended Florida State University and received my Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Sciences. While in school, I developed a passion for education and prevention work around family life and human development, which led me to pursue my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. When working with clients, I incorporate practical and solution-oriented tools to help individuals and families successfully navigate challenges that happening. With these tools, when future challenges arise, clients feel prepared and confident in their ability to handle concerns on their own.
