My name is Katon. The first thing people usually ask me about when they first meet me is about my name. My name is pronounced Cat-Tahn. I am an Iranian American. I was born in the Pacific Northwest, and I grew up in Northern California. I earned my BA in Anthropology from San Diego State University and my MA in Counseling Psychology from University of San Francisco. When not working, I am usually spending time with my spouse and my three children. I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, volunteering, and trying out new things and new experiences. I also love listening to music and singing. I utilize an integrative approach and combine different therapeutic tools to fit the needs of an individual client, family, or couple. I believe in meeting clients where they are comfortable and in using evidence-based practice in my work with clients. I have experience working with acculturation issues, bereavement, grief (children and adults), post partum depression, and trauma. I work with individuals of all ages and strive to provide culturally competent therapy.
