Introduction

Seeking professional help can be a very vulnerable and difficult thing to do but such a rewarding and positive experience it can be once you take the first step. Katlyn Girsch, LCSW offers a safe and trusting space to work through your struggles. She strives to help others heal and learn coping skills to manage life’s challenges. Children & Teens: Katlyn has worked with foster & adopted youth ages 2 to 18 since 2008. Building a trusting relationship and connection is always the first step to helping kids open up and feel safe to explore issues. Katlyn uses developmentally appropriate psychotherapy techniques and provides parent coaching. Traditional talk therapy is typically not the most effective approach with children but rather with expressive modalities and behavioral models she has had success. Katlyn is trauma informed and has worked with children and teens with a variety of presented problems. Examples: Less than optimal care in early life, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, RAD, BPD, school difficulties, self-esteem and social challenges. Adults: Katlyn’s primary goal with a client is to build a trusting and supportive relationship so the client feels safe and comfortable to explore their troubles. With Adults, Katlyn uses client-centered psychotherapy and will integrate treatment models based on presented problems. Holistic approach is often recommended to help promote wellness of the total self (mind & body) and Katlyn works hard to teach and encourage the use of healthy coping skills. Katlyn is passionate about helping parents with the stresses of parenting, specifically adoptive families and mothers experiencing prenatal and postpartum blues. Additional issues Katlyn can help with are Anxiety, Depression, Trauma history, life changes, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and trouble dealing with increased pressures or stress.
