Katie is dedicated to providing creative and evidence-based counseling services that help young people gain skills, build resilience and establish healthy functioning. Using a developmental lens, she specializes in the stages of life when the brain undergoes great change and is susceptible to high levels of stress. Katie's approach is humanistic in nature, and pulls from both cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy approaches (CBT and DBT). Throughout the therapeutic process, Katie empowers her clients to take the lead in goal setting. This aims to help them identify personal concerns, instill internal motivation, and drive them toward positive behavioral change. Katie offers both face-to-face therapy as well as Telehealth (audiovisual) therapy services to support families who need support but may have the flexibility to travel. Common skills gained in therapy include but are not limited to: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, organization, positive self talk, identifying values, coping strategies, boundary setting, assertiveness and communication skills.
