Introduction

Hello, my name is Kathryn Alabi, the CEO of A New Beginning Counseling. I understand that embracing change and a new approach to life or life perspectives can be challenging. My role at New Beginning is to encourage self-kindness, self-actualization, as well as compassion in your process. I have a Client Centered Holistic, Cognitive and Solution-Focus Collaborative approach to achieve them. I often defer to the eclectic theories where I draw from other theoretic backgrounds in order to provide my clients with the kind of support they need. My therapeutic approach is of the principle that the Client is the expert and my role is to act as guiding light to what they identify as their therapeutic journey. As a therapist, I do not act as a self-appointed expert on the client's life, who effortlessly dispenses advice to the client on what they should be thinking, feeling, and doing. I do not readily provide answers/solutions to client's questions/problems regarding themselves, but rather provide support in whatever way will help the client achieve their behavioral objective. I am a National Certified Counselor and a licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Delaware and Maryland. My academic and professional qualifications includes: Bachelors in Biology from Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina and Master’s Degree in Agency Counseling, North Carolina A & T University, Greensboro, North Carolina. Certified Anger Management Specialist Certified Parent Instructor and Certified Shoplifting Instructor. I am humbled to help you walk through your process; together you will experience A New Beginning.
