My name is Dr. Katherine Lou, and I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Massachusetts and California. I work with adults ages 21 and above with a wide variety of conditions and diverse backgrounds, including race, religion, gender identity, and sexual orientation. As the daughter of minority immigrants, my bicultural background helps to inform my practice in a culturally informed and sensitive manner, and I am conversant in Mandarin Chinese. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is built on trust and collaboration which thrives in a warm, authentic, and welcoming environment. Together, we will work to identify your goals, problem-solve, and develop healthy strategies to meet them. My therapy style is active and strengths-based. I provide clinically effective treatment to adults across the lifespan, primarily through cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is an evidence-based treatment to help you break free from unhealthy and maladaptive patterns of thinking and behavior. The goal is to help you live a more meaningful and satisfying life, develop fulfilling relationships, alleviate emotional distress, and improve your overall sense of well-being. In addition, I have specialized training in behavioral medicine and geriatric psychology. My clinical interests include the treatment of chronic illness, disability, aging, and caregiver issues. In acute hospital and primary care settings, I have served on collaborative healthcare teams to treat patients with diverse medical conditions, including cancer, autoimmune and genetic conditions, head and spinal cord injuries, dementia, and other neurological disorders. I received my doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium and my undergraduate degree in English from Tufts University. I completed graduate training in the Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System, including a predoctoral internship at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center and a postdoctoral fellowship at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
