My career in social work began in 2002 when I returned to school to pursue my graduate degree; I attended The University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work (formerly SSA). Prior to that I enjoyed a successful 15 year career as an assistant director on most of Chicago’s sports television productions. I am most passionate about working with men of all ages who are going through planned and unplanned life transitions. Roles for men and women are changing and we are living longer, this can create life adjustments that need to be managed. Men have been raised to understand they are the strong and resilient family member but that doesn’t mean they don’t need support and help. When a man chooses to come to therapy they are able to talk about themselves and feel safe, not judged. With men and women I try to connect to my clients in a comfortable, relaxed manner and learn about their lives in order to help then navigate whatever is distressing. I have extensive experience working with women's issues across the lifespan as well as clients with chronic health issues. After a long career in Hospice I can navigate the most difficult transitions of life. I attended The University of Iowa as an undergraduate and at age 38 I discovered that I wanted to work directly with others who needed support. I attended graduate school at The University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration and during my full-time graduate work (2002-2004) the School was ranked the #1 School of Social Work in the the World by U.S. News and World Reports; the School has consistently ranked in the top 5 Schools of Social Work.
