Katie (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#C015184) and a Clinical Supervisor to LCSWA’s in the state of North Carolina. Katie’s educational journey began in community college where she earned her Associates Degree in the Arts and where she first gained exposure to a vast range of community resources and supports that inspired her interest in social work. She pursued her Bachelors in Social Work at Campbell University and followed her studies to UNC Chapel Hill where she earned her Master of Social Work. Relaxed and collaborative, Katie specializes in working with people ages 14 and older experiencing mental health challenges such as OCD, depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, attachment disorders, PTSD, chronic illness management (especially neurological disorders), life transitions, support system development, time management, gender exploration, religious trauma, grief and bereavement, bipolar disorders, aging, and disordered eating. She uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to best assist her clients in finding the therapeutic style that works for them while addressing needs from several perspectives. Katie is an LGBTQIA+ affirming provider. Katie also has experience working with clients from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and desires to operate from a place of cultural humility. Katie enjoys empowering her clients by inviting them to combine their knowledge of self with her clinical knowledge to truly integrate her clients into their own treatment team. Katie works to assist her clients in sculpting therapeutic skills to fit them, not sculpting the client to fit the skills. She will work with her clients to support them in regaining ownership of their emotions, their experiences, their bodies, and their narratives. In the therapeutic space, Katie believes we are all equals who have something to learn and something to offer, a mentality that she also carries into her supervision. She invites her clients to think of therapy as a wet ball of clay that can be sculpted to meet their individual needs each session. She looks forward to working with all who are kind enough to offer their openness to her. Your vulnerability is sacred and so appreciated. In her spare time, she enjoys paddle boarding, spending time with her dog (always feel free to ask for pictures of her “co-therapist”), going to farmers markets, and trying new foods. Katie will soon be in network with BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna. Please contact her for details. Katie also offers a limited number of sliding scale slots.
