Kate helps foster a safe environment and therapeutic relationship to allow the client to share their life experiences and explore what may be contributing to the clients suffering, challenges, or difficulties. As a systems based therapist, Kate likes to process a person’s upbringing and childhood experiences to understand how they affect their current relationships today. Kate’s approach to therapy is honest, solution focused, strength based, and empathic. In Kate’s experience, people come to therapy to receive help and to create positive change in their lives. Kate would like to help couples, families, and individuals create a safe place to explore change. Early in Kate’s career she worked with diverse socio-economic demographics and age ranges. Her work included providing therapy in residential homes, homeless shelters, and to women on parole. Kate also worked in public education providing mental health services to children ages 5-18. Working in varied settings has allowed Kate to gain a unique set of skills and insight as a therapist. Kate’s experience has provided her the opportunity to look at mental health through a real-life practical lens. Kate’s passion is to increase accessibility to mental health support and services to all and to provide meaningful supervision to future therapists.
