Kate Morris is a clinical social worker and owner of Among the Trees Counseling and Wellness. Prior to focusing on independent clinical social work, Kate worked in a variety of therapeutic roles with individuals at every life stage, from primary school students to hospice patients. Kate is passionate about her work, using a strengths-based approach to help people get curious about their lives, find meaning in their unique stories, and improve their relationships. She values authenticity and vulnerability and remains in awe at the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship. Kate has particular interest and training in disordered eating and eating disorders. She is a non-diet mental health clinician practicing from within the Health at Every Size paradigm. In 2018, she became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and she is completing hours towards her Eating Disorder Specialist certification. Having recovered from an eating disorder herself, Kate believes full recovery is possible. She works with clients to establish trust in their bodies and discover a relationship with food that is joyful and free. Kate is also trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), internationally recognized as an effective treatment for trauma. Kate is a recent transplant to Vermont (circa 2017), and now lives, hikes, and skis mostly greens in central VT with her husband, three children, and pup.
