Introduction

Hi - My name is Dr. Kate Kleinfelter, but many people call me "Dr. K." I have worked with adolescents, adults, and SC's systems of care for over 30 years covering an extensive range of mental health, medical, & developmental issues. I am especially passionate about working with neurodivergent (autism level one) and lesbian/gay/bi clients, who tend to have relatively few options in the state right now for specilalied clinical support or guidance. I also work with trans clients - either adolescents and their parents, or adults, and where appropriate I write letters for gender confirming medical procedures via WPATH & APA guidelines. For youth who are considering medical transition, I liason with MUSC's endocrinology dept to help insure youth receive the best care possible. My treatment orientation is a humanistic infused cognitive-behavioral philosophy, but at the same time, I strive to provide the best evidence-based care that will help you meet your goals. I recognize that therapy is an effort that requires time, money, and courage. My goal is your goal - to help you achieve your therapy objectives, and in the minimum amount of time possible. To accomodate school & work schedules, I sometimes see people in evenings & weekends as well. I also have received special training and experience conducting evidence-based forensic evaluations for juveniles. Such evaluations include: transfer/waiver, competency, mitigation, disposition, and Miranda capacity. I provide expert consultation and training to court officials, clinicians, and parents on a wide range of topics. Please feel free to email me in order to set up a free initial consultation for diagnostic services, therapy, letter for medical transition, a forensic case, or a training event. Trainings include best practice but are interactive. entertaining, and afforable. Contact me for a brochure and more details.
