Introduction

The word therapy can often evoke feelings of uncertainty. My goal is not to change individuals but to empower individuals to find their strengths, communicate their experiences, and construct lives filled with hope and satisfaction. My goal is to provide empathy, congruence, and unconditional regard while using positive psychology approaches to provide an open, accepting space to work collaboratively with clients. In doing this, my hope is that people find courage and strength in seeking counseling. After all, counseling isn’t an end but a journey for the counselor and the client. As a former teacher, I have worked with many children and adolescents. I have seen the hurt and struggle that many carry with them and knew I wanted to be able to do something more. In pursuing my dreams to become a counselor, I hope to be able to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for all to explore, learn, and grow. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies K-12 and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lubbock Christian University and I am currently working towards completing my hours for licensure. I am supervised by Michelle Fitzhugh, MA, LPC-S at Redeemed Life Counseling, I look forward to continuing my clinical experience and refining my skills and knowledge. I am married with 3 children. As a family, we love to spend time exploring the world around us and experiencing new things. Diverse relationships and unique life experiences have allowed me to more effectively relate and help clients through their personalized counseling journey.
