This is a challenging and stressful time to be alive. Perhaps you find yourself feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, caught in loops of worry, or not sleeping well. You may distract or numb yourself in order to counter overwhelming feelings. If you have never started therapy, or you are hoping to return, welcome. Therapy offers the opportunity to have a regular space and time carved out of your schedule to begin to articulate, think, and feel emotions and experiences that are difficult to put into language. We need another person to listen non-judgmentally and ask us difficult questions. Eventually, we internalize that experience and start to have more self-compassion, to question our narratives about ourselves, and remake them. We can't change the past but we can learn to hold our emotions and experiences differently as we discover our unconscious dynamics. As we do this, our symptoms like anxiety, depression, emptiness, rage, and fear become less overwhelming and more manageable. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming and culturally inclusive Licensed Psychoanalyst with a private practice in Manhattan’s Tribeca / City Hall area, where I welcome individual adults (ages 18+) and couples with difficulties across the mental health spectrum. I completed advanced training in Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Institute for Contemporary Therapy. Before becoming an analyst I earned a Ph.D. in English, an MFA in poetry, and taught literature at the college level. My approach is collaborative, and I often incorporate mindfulness and a focus on the body, as well as other therapeutic modes. I am interactive and responsive, ask questions, and encourage feedback. I love the work that I do, and I would be honored to be part of your healing process.
