Hello! I’m Karen Cummings, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with 17+ years experience in the field. I have been married to my husband for 35+ and I am a mom to 3 diverse adult children. I have a 14yr fur baby who often comes to work with me and may make an appearance in session. I use a cognitive behavioral therapy approach (CBT) to help you explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings and actions, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), to further focus on the reality of our actions in daily life and learn additional new skills in how we choose to respond. I am certified in ThetaHealing energy work, a method of meditation that can provide much insight to the underlying issues, and an approach that I use in practice as a coping technique in promoting emotional well-being in complimenting an overall approach to mental health care. I am passionate about creating a safe and empathetic space that empowers the ‘self’ and promotes mindfulness as part of the journey in nurturing the whole person. As a therapist who also has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, I am an ‘out-of-the-box’ thinker and you can expect the use of creative ideas and humor to show up in our work together. I am accepting new clients ages 18+ to 118 years young. I am available by appointment Mondays (8am to 7pm), Tuesdays (8am to 7pm), and Fridays (8am to 2pm), via telehealth only. Thanks for viewing!
