Kara Kaplan

Kara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York and with over seventeen years of experience. After many years working in a clinic, Kara has been working in her own, solo practice since 2021. Kara has enjoyed working with a range of issues including people struggling with grief, worrying too much, self-esteem struggles, job stress, relationship problems, etc. Additionally, she has been developing her knowledge and ability to work with those experiencing difficulties with sex and intimacy. Kara has completed the Comprehensive Sexology Program at the Buehler Institute and she is working with a clinical supervisor to achieve her goal of becoming a certified sex therapist. Kara blends a variety of therapeutic approaches in her sessions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and she is a trauma informed provider. Kara is an active member of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, (AASECT), and New York Mental Health Counselors Association (NYMHCA). Kara's office is open Monday through Friday, from 9am-4pm. The bottom of this website has a list of insurances that Kara is in-network with and Kara is able to submit out of network claims.
