Introduction

Hello! My name is Kaitlynn Murguia (she/her) and it is a pleasure to meet you. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics at Benedictine University and went on to complete my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a specialization in Addictions Counseling, from Walden University. Prior to my role as a therapist, I was a Nutritionist providing care in a residential treatment center. I quickly discovered my passion for mental health and decided to expand my education, going on to obtain my Masters and becoming licensed as a counselor. My background in nutrition is one of the many ways I honor my clients as holistic beings, as I believe in treating the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. I truly believe in the process of self-discovery, empowerment, and healing. I have worked with survivors of various traumas, individuals with significant mental illness, children and adolescents with behavioral/conduct disorders, LGBTQ2S individuals, as well as adults with mood disorders or life transition concerns. I also have extensive experience working with Native populations. I have provided care to individuals in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, community health centers, schools, and outpatient settings. I use an integrative, individualized, and culturally sensitive approach so as to tailor treatment to your identified needs. I specialize in healthy relationships (with people and with food) and therefore enjoy working with families and couples as well as individuals that may be recovering from domestic violence or intimate partner violence. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions, tailored to the specific needs of each person, but primarily draw on CBT, DBT, psychoanalysis, and mindfulness. I believe each person is the expert of their own life, and I value the privilege of being a resource of any healing journey.
