Trauma, chronic illness(es), and eating disorders are intense, unique experiences that can change the way we think, respond, and prepare for day-to-day activities. It can also change the way our body functions on a basic level. My goal is to provide a comfortable environment where everyone can explore traumas, create coping skills, and gain self-confidence. It is within a safe, comforting environment that people have the potential to create meaningful change in their lives. I use a relational, strengths-based approach in sessions. I also incorporate motivational interviewing and mindfulness techniques regularly into sessions. I, and the other clinicians at Embrace Strength Counseling, work from a Health at Every Size (HAES) framework. We all uniquely interact with the world and life can become hard when we feel judged because our path may be "different". Trauma or ongoing illnesses create a set of struggles that many may not understand, leading to unwanted advice and shame. My primary goal is to provide you with a space in which you feel validated, heard, and supported.
