Introduction

As a dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) intern, I bring a wealth of life experience and a compassionate approach to my practice as a mental health and trauma counselor. Being a married father of four in a mixed-race family, I have gained invaluable insights into the richness of diverse perspectives and the importance of understanding different cultural backgrounds. This personal experience has greatly enhanced my ability to connect with and understand people from various walks of life. Before transitioning to my career in mental health, I spent many years in corporate America as a successful business consultant. This extensive background in the business world has provided me with a unique perspective on the stresses and pressures faced by individuals in high-demand careers. Additionally, as a long-time athlete and coach in various sports, I have developed a robust understanding of teamwork, discipline, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. My interests include sports, health and nutrition, reading, and spending time outdoors. I deeply value the time spent with my family and am active in my church community. These interests not only enrich my personal life but also inform my holistic approach to counseling. In my therapeutic practice, I believe that life is inherently complex and difficult. To navigate these challenges, I advocate for a simplified and common-sense approach to problems and life. My counseling philosophy centers around setting realistic and attainable goals, ensuring that my clients can make meaningful progress without feeling overwhelmed. My approach is client-centered and strength-based, focusing on empowering clients to recognize and build upon their existing strengths. I am committed to helping clients learn how to be self-sufficient in managing their mental and emotional health, providing them with the tools and strategies needed to thrive independently. With my background in both corporate and athletic settings, along with the diverse experiences of raising a mixed-race family, I bring a unique blend of empathy, practicality, and cultural sensitivity to my work. I am dedicated to supporting my clients through their journeys, helping them achieve lasting well-being and resilience.
