I became a therapist because I have seen the power it has to change people and save lives. I have five beliefs that guide my approach. First, research shows that a strong partnership between client and provider is key to good outcomes. I foster trust and compassion in the therapeutic relationship. Second, I use a variety of evidence-based therapy modalities tailored to meet the particular needs and goals of each client. Next, I assume that each person's psyche is self-healing (just as the body is) and that given the right conditions and support, a healthy and joyful outcome can be expected. Fourth, I've learned that loving friends and family are important in the journey towards health, and to the extent possible, I encourage clients to find the key allies they can count on. Finally, I include a blessing as part of therapy, to highlight hope, goodness and beauty and to help client's grow in the sense of their own worth. Ultimately, I hope my approach nurtures in each client the knowledge that they are needed and beloved members of the human family.
