Introduction

Note: I’m accepting Counselor Associates for supervision and providing assessments for letters for gender affirming procedures. I am not taking on new clients for ongoing therapy at this time. Clinical Supervision My goal in clinical supervision is to empower each Counselor Associate to deepen their understanding of client processes, listen to their intuition, while recognizing the dynamics of power and how they can shape and sometimes harm the therapeutic journey. The mental health field has an undeniable history of causing harm, often rooted in systemic oppression and power imbalances. Through our work together, I aim to foster awareness of these dynamics and support my supervisees in navigating and addressing them, promoting healing and ethical practice. I am also committed to aiding their professional growth, especially in making therapy accessible within the realm of private practice. In my own practice I primarily use EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) with clients, so if those modalities resonate with you we will likely be a good fit. Core Values I acknowledge that systemic oppression contributes to daily trauma, and I believe that counseling and supervision should foster healing, not add to that trauma. I commit to creating a safe and sacred space, grounded in principles of social justice, cultural humility, decolonization, and sincere self-reflection. I believe that understanding how settler colonialism has historically impacted communities, and offering practices that acknowledge these historical wounds, is essential to healing. Personal Stuff I’m a queer, white, neurodiverse and gender-expansive individual who has been working in mental health for 12 years (in a previous life I was also a bartender). I grew up in Missouri and came out at 15 during the Bush administration, which definitely shaped my journey. In 2008, I made an impulsive leap to Portland and have been here ever since. In my personal life, I’m a devoted dog lover, especially of chihuahuas, and especially of my chihuahua (Buffy) who may pop up on screen every now and again. I love cycling in its many iterations and spend many hours in the saddle during the week— from mountain biking to ultra long-distance cycling to competitive racing on the road. In the past I’ve enjoyed rock climbing and mountaineering and was a part of the Mazamas’ first queer group in their Basic Climbing Education Program back in 2019. I’m also pretty obsessed with plants, particularly aroids (the inside of my place looks like a jungle). I read primarily books and graphic novels in the sci-fi/fantasy genre and when listening to music it is usually metal of the post, prog, and doom varieties.
