Everyone has times in their life when they are seeking deeper meaning, self-acceptance, or simply someone to walk with them through a challenging period. Joyce works with clients to highlight their strengths and build a therapeutic relationship that gives them space to heal and grow. Believing that you are the expert of your own experience, she uses her training to support you in making sense of and working through whatever brings you to therapy. She also has an array of tools she can share that will help you to be your best self. Joyce is a licensed social worker with her master's in clinical social work from the University of Chicago and an additional certification in trauma-informed care. She has been working with families on Chicago's South Side for five years, providing school-based mental health support and wraparound services for young people ages three to twenty-one. She has completed a 200-hour yoga teacher certification and a 95-hour children's yoga teacher certification and creates resources to support teachers in implementing social and emotional supports in classrooms. Combining cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, Joyce tailors her approach to fit each client's unique needs. Joyce operates through a social justice lens that emphasizes community and acknowledges the structures that create real barriers in people's lives, helping clients to draw from their strengths and create change for themselves.
