WHO I AM My clients describe me as someone they feel safe and comfortable with, someone they feel they can trust, and someone that genuinely cares for them. My clinical background for the past seven years involves working intensively in in-home settings providing quality counseling services for children/adolescents and their families, working as a psychiatric social worker on psych units in hospital setting, and providing outpatient counseling services for children, adolescents and adults in community health clinics. I was named Joy because I strive to bring joy into all that I do. I love my profession and sincerely hope that through working with me, my clients can feel empowered to find joy and happiness in their lives again. WHAT I DO I have a strong passion for helping adults struggling with perfectionism or anxiety/worry, people who are troubled with their "unfinished business" from the past, those that identify themselves as a "people pleaser" and people who somehow feel like they are not good enough. Many of my clients report being abused or neglected some time in their lives, especially in their childhood. I firmly believe that everybody can heal from past wound given the right resources and support, and everybody has the answer within themselves. Therefore, it is my role to help you reach your full potential and help you find the answers you have been looking for, the solutions to current struggles, and pathway to long-term wellness. HOW I DO IT One of the things I valued the most at my practice is my clients' therapeutic bond with me. Therefore, my top priority is to provide a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for you to work through current struggles. I am committed to helping you identify the core issues leading up to present concerns, and providing the necessary knowledge for you to gain more insight into current issues. I will explain all the treatment options in details, and we will work closely as a team to come up with a treatment plan that best meets your therapeutic needs and goals. A combination of evidence-based and compassion-based therapy approaches will be used throughout the treatment to help achieve your goals. Your therapy experience and feedback are highly valued by me, so will be evaluated periodically to ensure the best treatment outcome.
