As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Jourdan finds joy and passion in helping individuals overcome trauma, learn new skills to manage emotions, discover new ways of thinking, and find effective solutions for long-lasting change. Jourdan is the owner of Happy Cactus Counseling and works with adults. She strives to work collaboratively with her clients to find the best approach for support, discovery, and healing because ultimately You are the expert on You!. Clients generally come to her seeking someone who is highly trained but also ready and willing to sit with them in their pain and discomfort with empathy, compassion, kindness, and honesty. Her goal is to be a down-to-earth, person-centered, holistic professional that provides a safe space for each individual to explore and process their thoughts, feelings, experiences, and body. Her approach to therapy is deeply rooted in making sure that her clients are met with non-judgement. Jourdan specializes in working with difficulties related to trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment, and eating disorders. She strongly believes in the power of meeting her clients where they are and honoring the uniqueness of each individual. Her background and training makes her a professional who is experienced in utilizing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She spent the formative years of her career at the Meadows Ranch working and learning from leaders in the community such as Peter A. Levine, Pia Mellody, and Claudia Black. These experiences fueled her passion for honoring the mind-body connection, exploring the effects of childhood trauma, and identifying potential co-dependence in relationships with others. Jourdan was born and raised in the Phoenix area. An Arizona native through and through, she obtained her Bachelors in Science degree from Arizona State University (Go Devils!) and then her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Arizona University (Go Lumberjacks!). In her free time, Jourdan enjoys a good book, a delicious cup of coffee, and the latest Netflix shows/movies. She has two amazing dogs that provide the best snuggles and love. The beauty of the Arizona desert never ceases to amaze her and you can find her exploring the many mountains, lakes, and valleys the state has to offer.
