I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles. As a clinical trainee, I began working with clients suffering from severe mental illness at the Exodus Crisis Residential Treatment Program in West Los Angeles. I found a passion working with this demographic and post graduation, spent several years providing essential field-based psychotherapy services to homeless, chronically mentally ill Veterans as part of Full Service Partnership, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Program. After some time in the community mental health sector, I moved into the dual diagnosis PHP/IOP world acting as a primary therapist providing psychotherapy, group therapy and family therapy to failure to launch young adults in a clinical environment in West Los Angeles. In addition to treating severe mental health issues, I have also found a particular interest in working with clients suffering with substance abuse. My preferred therapeutic modalities are, CBT, MBCT, and psychodynamic/relational. I also have an in-depth personal knowledge of the disease of addiction, its effects on the addict, and its effects on their family system, allowing for a nuanced and compassionate approach when working with addicted clients. I am a father of two amazing kids and enjoy rigorous exercise, the outdoors, live music and cats. Josh firmly believes that, no matter what the problem is, if you can change the quality of your mind, you can change the quality of your experience.
