Introduction

In today’s fast-paced world, finding balance amidst the constant demands of work, family, and personal aspirations can be challenging. The juggling act often leaves us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, and fatigued. Therapy offers a space to slow down, gain clarity, and develop strategies that support emotional and physical well-being, helping to build resilience, improve relationships, and create lasting balance. About Me My name is Jordan, but please call me Jordo. I’ve always had a deep passion for connecting with others. My journey into counseling began when I was working as a nursing assistant, where I was deeply moved by the unique stories of the patients I cared for. While their physical health was being tended to, I noticed a strong need for emotional and spiritual healing as well. I realized that true healing happens when someone is seen as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. I witnessed the power of simply being present and truly listening to people’s experiences. This inspired my work as a counselor, where I aim to help people recognize their wholeness through collaborative self-discovery. Education and Training I am currently a graduate student at Naropa University’s Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling program and will graduate in 2025. During my practicum at New Oakland Family Center, I conducted group therapy in a partial hospitalization program, working with children, teens, and adults dealing with moderate to severe dual diagnoses. I am now completing my internship at Pediatric and Adult Behavioral Counseling under the supervision of Dennielle McIver, MS, LPC-S, NCC, CCTP. Career Background Before my counseling career, I gained valuable experiences working as a nursing assistant, executive chef, small business owner, and parent. My diverse background has helped me connect with people from all walks of life. As an executive chef and business owner, I developed leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while creating communities where others could thrive. However, the birth of my first child led me to seek a career with a better work-life balance, which brought me to the field of counseling. Specialization and Approach I bring a unique blend of compassion, experience, and a deep passion for connecting with others. I believe in showing up authentically in every session, honoring both my own experiences and those of my clients. My approach emphasizes collaborative self-discovery, empowering clients to recognize and embrace their innate strengths. I see my clients as inherently whole, welcoming all aspects of their being into the therapeutic space. As a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher, I offer a holistic approach to wellness, helping clients cultivate present-moment awareness. Mindfulness practices such as meditation, breathing exercises, and body scans aid in grounding and processing strong emotions, allowing individuals to connect with their true, authentic selves. I utilize humanistic, Gestalt, existential, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches to create a supportive space where clients can explore their inner world and reconnect with their healing potential. With CBT, I help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, offering practical strategies to manage distressing thoughts, build healthier habits, and develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. I see wellness as a journey, not a destination, and together we can work toward restoring balance and fostering a deeper sense of peace and fulfillment in your life. I trust you as the expert on yourself and value your insights as we navigate your journey together. Psychedelic Preparation, Integration, and Coaching I am also passionate about the potential of psychedelics in mental health and personal growth. I provide support in psychedelic preparation, integration, and coaching. Whether you are preparing for a psychedelic experience or looking to integrate insights from a past one, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for exploration. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, ensuring that each person’s unique journey is respected and honored. For You Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but remember, there’s no wrong way to show up. Being exactly who you are in this moment is all that’s needed. Therapy is a collaborative journey of self-exploration, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. If, for any reason, you feel that our therapeutic connection isn’t the right fit, I welcome open communication and will gladly help you explore other options that may suit your needs better.
