Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California with over 15 years of combined unlicensed and licensed experience in the mental health field providing services for young children, adolescents, & adults. Are you dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief & loss, school or work trouble? Maybe a unique challenge with a transition or goal in your life? Perhaps trying to improve your role and conflicts in a relationship. You are not alone, and I am here for you. I’ll share with you that I have the unique experience of having faced and overcome traumatic experiences in war and in the loss of an infant son, and I know what it can be like to be on the other side of the therapy chair. I pride myself in being a greater listener, a kid at heart, and a believer that life’s hardships can be opportunities for amazing growth. I think it is important to challenge and be real with my clients, while also respecting the beliefs and personal experiences that may influence their decisions. I integrate different aspects of Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Person-Centered, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy into my practice. I also specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Clients seeking to learn new coping and relaxation skills, task management and motivational enhancement, unblock emotional barriers, or to improve interpersonal and communication skills would be best suited for working with me. A little more about me: I served as a soldier in the U.S. Army & CA Army National Guard from 2002-2009 and returned as a veteran of OIF III. I am bilingual in English & Spanish, and proud to have learned from and worked with clients from different cultures, religions, genders/sexual orientations, and socio-economic backgrounds. My top job is as a husband and father of two children, and I maintain my balance through my love for music, art, technology, nature, & spirituality. I look forward to working with you and can accommodate most schedules. Best of luck in your therapy journey! “Turn your demons into art, your shadow into a friend, your fear into fuel, your failures into teachers, your weaknesses into reasons to keep fighting. Don’t waste your pain. Recycle your heart.” - Andrea Balt
