Dr. John M. Watkins is board certified in both Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and in Psychoanalysis. He is the President of the American Board and Academy of Psychoanalysis (ABAPsa) and a Trustee of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. Watkins has worked as a clinician, researcher, teacher, and administrator in clinical psychology at UCLA, Stanford University, and Children Hospital of Orange County. He received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from UCLA and completed his internship and postdoctoral research and training in the Department of Psychology and the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Behavior at UCLA. He has written scholarly papers, research articles and reviews on topics that include ADHD, learning disorders, pediatric HIV, traumatic brain injury, and adolescent development.
