Hi there, My name is Johanna Torres, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I work with adults and specialize in working with young and middle-adult females experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, family conflicts and past trauma. My approach to therapy is client-centered, promoting self-acceptance, self-esteem, and personal growth, and minimize negative feelings. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for women that have the need to learn how to cope with life challenges and find a safe space to gain self-awareness, acceptance, and healing through trauma. My communication style is calm and empathic, using active listening and understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and values of the clients. I pride myself on my ability to provide a safe space for my clients where they can feel free to talk about their feelings, problems or situations to someone that will listen without judgment. My journey to therapy: I decided to become a therapist because It has always been my passion to help others and be the person that people can count on to actively listen without judgment to help them find a positive perspective.
