Hello, my name is Jessica Wilkerson and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist. I specialize in trauma and anxiety, looking at things from a perspective that somehow you received messages when you were vulnerable that colored the way you interpret safety in the world around you. Now, people might be taking advantage of that and capitalizing on boundaries, self-esteem, communication difficulties. These messages might have come from childhood, your teen years, family, schoolmates, young adult years, first loves, and more! Many people think therapists just blame your parents, but you might have had great parents and a bully down the street. We don't do that, we explore to understand so we know which things to address. I believe in a two-part approach. I help you explore the events that influenced you while also assessing the ways you have coped until now. I look to give you new perspective and skills to navigate the relationships around you while helping you experience internal growth and healing. I use a lot of EMDR & EFT in my work. If you're an acronym junky like me, you know what that means. If not, it means I'm specifically trained in trauma and attachment - and how that affects your life and relationships today to give you your power back. This profile states I'm not accepting new clients, but I am. I don't often put openings on my website calendar as I prefer people to send me an email or to call my office to schedule an appointment. If you don't use their online calendar then it says you're not accepting clients. If you'd like a session, then please reach out to me at jwilkerson@inspiredlifechico.com or call my office at (530) 809-1702. *Disclaimer - I am out of network with insurance, but my office is set up to do your billing on your behalf. This means, our sessions should go toward your deductible, and once you meet it then you should only have a co-insurance (like co-pay). My office can check your insurance for you if you're unsure how to find out your plan's out-of-network policy. As of November 1, 2022 I will be only providing telehealth. My software is HIPAA compliant so we are secure, and I have a fancy program called RemotEMDR for online EMDR if that's the modality we're using. I was EMDRIA trained in 2014, have advanced training, and have attended multiple basic trainings as I often coordinate trainings for my staff. I have been providing video EMDR since the world shut down in March of 2020. When that happened, my in-person EMDR clients kept working online and we noticed that EMDR was equally as effective. Many stayed online after we re-opened because they got accustomed to trauma work in their jammies on their sofa!
